Arts & Techonolgy Group / Events & Exhibitions Group
Yat is an urban designer and founded Urban Beings with the mission help everyone to enjoy the city. In 2010 she was researching on how the London cityscape has shaped the Chinese communities and vice versa to engage the older generation to explore London. She was thrilled to stumble across ‘The Evolution and History of the British Chinese Workforce’ and the Ming-Ai team’s energy, drive and vision. A passionate foodie with a secret ambition to be a food critic, she quickly accepted the invitation to join the new British Chinese Food Culture project as both a project volunteer and to sit in the steering group.
Through Urban Beings, Yat has been involved with strategic spatial planning work at the City Hall, teaching architecture and urban design in universities in the UK and Sweden and searching for urban developments which are good for the environment, the community and economy. She loves spending time with her young nephews who inspired 'Toddle in the City', a treasure hunt with a camera for toddlers and their favourite adults to explore the city. You might spot her on her champagne coloured bike in London or enjoying a freshly made cappuccino.
