Year-2 Project Presentation (3 Sep 2014)
On the 3rd September 2014 the hard work of months of interviews, transcripts, audio and video editing came together with the second launch of material from the British Chinese Workforce Heritage project.
Over 70 guests packed Herrington Hall in Regent’s University as they listened to Robert Fleming from the National Army Museum and the presentation’s master of ceremonies introduce the project. The keynote speech was given by Vivienne Lo from University College London in which she interwove her own family history into the narrative of British Chinese history that the project had covered so far.
The launch revealed updates to the website including new material on the timeline and 35 interviews composed of community, healthcare and education workforces. The project also launched the “Memories” section of the website where people can submit their own histories and the “Lesson Plans” which will help teachers deliver lessons for KS3/KS4. Many positive comments were made from members of the audience, some of whom featured in the promotional video.
