Use LMA series - 3 Training workshops
From February 2016, Ming Ai has been delivering regular training sessions to prepare staff and volunteers of the British Chinese Armed Forces Heritage project. The training covered a number of different topics bringing in experts from various fields. All the areas that were covered by training had direct relevance to aspects that those working with the project would undertake, such as oral history interview training, research method on community heritage workshop and audio visual (AV) training.
During April and May, Ming Ai has held three LMA training workshops for staff and volunteers at London Metropolitan Archives (LMA). LMA is home to an extraordinary range of documents, images, maps, films and books about London. All three workshops were designed and delivered by LMA trainers. LMA trainers are skilled and experienced in conservation, archives and record management fields. During the workshops, our attendants had the chance to look at the first London map, learned how to use LMA tracing family history, finding sources for various researching or cultural heritage projects, gaining a good understanding about the LMA records management so they know how to look for different archives using catalogues, while also giving them a face to face training session with LMA conservator to learn how to handle documents while using them and basics of document conservation.
