Roadshow: Haringey Chinese Community Centre (18 Sept 2012)
Between September 2012 and February 2013 Ming-Ai held a series of Roadshows, visiting a number of Community Centres around London to introduce the British Chinese Workforce Heritage project to members of the Chinese Community and encourage them to share their stories with us.
The first Roadshow of the British Chinese Workforce Heritage project was held at the Haringey Chinese Community Centre on Tuesday 18 September 2012.
The audience first heard from Robert Waite, Deputy Curator of the Bruce Castle Museum - one of the Project Partners of the British Chinese Workforce Heritage project, who spoke about the Bruce Castle Museum and its history, and encouraged Community Centre members to visit the Chinese collections held there.
Steven Shi (Project Officer) then gave an interactive presentation, explaining the rationale behind the project and the importance of preserving the voices of the Chinese people who have made such a large contribution to working life in London. The Project Team then enjoyed tea and refreshments with the Community Centre members and had the opportunity to further talk to them about the project.
