Liverpool Research Trip (14-16 Mar 2014)
The second research trip for the project took the team to Liverpool, one of the oldest Chinese communities established in the UK. The trip aimed to find out more about the history of the first Chinese settlers in the city, and the changes that the Chinese community in Liverpool has gone through.
Over 3 days, the team interviewed key persons from the community. Interviewees included representatives of Chinese community centres in Liverpool's Chinatown; a member of the local government counci; and individuals with personal stories of the migration of Chinese seafarers to Liverpool, and those who interact daily with the Chinese community today.
The trip included visits to the Museum of Liverpool, and a guided tour of the areas of Liverpool that have been significant to the development of the Chinese community.
The research collected will be presented in the Interviews and Memories sections of the website.
