Limehouse Heritage Walk (20 Jan 2014)

RHUL image for website smallOn 20 January 2014 the British Chinese Workforce Heritage project delivered a tailored walk for students of the Modern History Department of Royal Holloway University.  Designed and led by Project Coordinator Rosa Kurowska the walk took in the Limehouse Basin, Thames, and residential areas such as Limehouse Causeway and Pennyfields.  As the class group were preparing their dissertation topics the walk focused on specific themes such as literary Limehouse, living conditions for Chinese sailors and religious and state institutions in Limehouse.

Feedback from Participants:

I enjoyed the tour and found it useful and informative.

The talk was very clear and well presented; I certainly strongly recommend this to other people.

A wonderful experience.

Very informative.

Friendly and engaging.

Following feedback from the walk we are in the process of developing a website for the walk and looking into walks around different areas of London for the future.   If you or your university is interested in similar events please email projects@ming-ai.org.uk
