AV Training Workshops - February 2016

Since February 2016, Ming Ai has been delivering regular training workshops for volunteers of the British Chinese Armed Forces Heritage project. Led by the experts from various fields, training workshops cover a number of different topics relevant to the project, such as oral history interview training and research method on community heritage workshop.

During March and April, Ming Ai has held two AV training sessions for staff and volunteers at Regent’s University London. Richard York and Hanna Majid from Rainbow Collective designed and delivered both training workshops. Richard and Hanna have been making documentaries in South Africa, Bangladesh, Iraq and the UK and have won awards in Dubai, France, USA and the Czech Republic. Rainbow Collective is formed as a social enterprise and committed to raising awareness on issues of human and children’s rights through powerful cinematic documentaries.

These two sessions of training were intensive and challenging. Despite showing us their previous works, Richard and Hanna showed us many little ‘shortcuts’ that are useful for video editing. We were very appreciated for their interactive and engaging training. The majorities of attendants were not familiar with AV editing before but were able to do some basic video editing after the workshop.
