Ka Ming Leung was born in Hong Kong. Before joining the army, Leung worked in a bank. He was enlisted in 1981 and had served for four years.
After completing the military training as a recruit, Leung was sent to the Army Dog Unit, Royal Army Veterinary Corps and became a dog handler. When Leung was on duty, he would bring the dog with him as a partner to patrol the street. Apart from this job, he was a member of the shooting team and had been representing Hong Kong in shooting competitions overseas. He won many awards and was once ranked in the top five among other competitors.
He retired from the army in 1985 and now he is an insurance broker.
