Chun Hip Leung was enlisted in 1987 once he graduated from high school and had served for seven years in total.

After finishing his military training as a recruit, Leung was assigned to the Dragon Company as a Regimental Policeman. His responsibilities involved in patrolling along the border and dealing with the Vietnam Refugee Crisis in Hong Kong. He later served as a dog-handler at the Army Dog Unit, Royal Army Veterinary Corps. When on duty, he patrolled along with his dog. During the Vietnam Refugee Crisis, he was sent to oversee the temporary refugee camp in Shek Kong and in Yau Ma Tei to prevent and stop them from escaping.

In 1994, he retired from the army as a Private. After his military career came to an end, he worked as a private detective, cemetery manager, security team leader at university, director at an accountant department in a newspaper and a senior security officer at a hotel.
