Ka Man Chung was born in Hong Kong. He was enlisted into the army in 1986. After completing his military training in Stonecutters Island for six months, Chung was assigned to Royal Army Ordnance Corps and worked as a Regimental Policeman. He later joined the 29th Squadron, Royal Corp of Transport in 1988. There, he learnt to drive different types of vehicles, such as small and medium types of Light Service Support Vehicle, military trucks and also the Bedford Vehicles. While serving at the 29th squadron, Chung was sent, along with his squadron and the 31st Squadron, the Gurkha Transport Regiment to Brunei to take part in a military training for a month and a half. Chung retired from the military service in February 1992. Since then he has been working as a policeman.
