Woon Chee Cheng is a journalist working in London. He was born in Hong Kong and has eight brothers and sisters. His parents came from mainland China, emigrating to Hong Kong before the Second World War. Most of his family remains in Hong Kong.
He studied journalism in Hong Kong, graduating in 1981. After this he worked as a reporter for the Hong Kong Daily News and Hong Kong Economic Times before leaving for London in 1989. After working for some different publications such as Wah Kiu Yat Po in London he started reporting for the Chinese Channel, part of TVB Europe, in 1994 and worked there for the next twenty years. Starting as a news producer in the early days, he was responsible for both editorial and technical operations in the department. Woon Chee went on to produce mini-features for the TVB news programme and became well known for his investigative work. In recent years he took on more management responsibility as well as his reporting and production duties.
