Currently based in Beijing, Dr. Zhang is an associate editor for the Financial Times and editor-in-chief of FTChinese.com (FT's only foreign language online publication). He is spending October and November at the University of Hong Kong as a visiting professor in the Journalism and Media Studies Centre.
Before joining the FT in early 2004 to launch FTChinese.com as the founding editor, Dr. Zhang worked for 10 years for BBC TV and the BBC World Service as assistant producer, producer, senior producer, news/current affairs editor and senior trainer in journalism and production.
He graduated from the Journalism Department of Fudan University in Shanghai, and obtained his PhD in Mass Communications at the University of Leicester, England. His honors including China's national reportage award, the BBC Travel Bursary and Asia's SOPA Award.
Dr. Zhang had served as visiting professor of Taiwan National Chengchi University, Hong Kong Baptist University and Fudan University.
He is accredited as a media leader by the World Economic Forum. He also sits on the executive committee of Great Britain China Centre (GBCC) in London.
