Born in the US, Mr Ken Hom O.B.E. started working in the Chinese catering industry at the age of eleven, and giving cookery lessons in his early 20s. Later he became a cookbook writer, TV presenter and consultant, and developed his own range of cookware, noodles and sauces. Apart from teaching the cooking techniques, he also researches and promotes the Chinese culinary history and culture such as The Wok. In 2009 he was awarded an honorary O.B.E. by HM the Queen for services to the culinary arts. He also works on behalf of charities which he enjoys a lot.
