Chung Pun Cheng came to the UK at the age of 14 and lived with relatives. He started studying at a local school. In order to subsidise his own living and studies, he worked part time in a restaurant. As an adolescent from Hong Kong, he found it very difficult to catch up to the high standard of the local school. Eventually he had to give up his studies and focus on working for living. Later, he became a chef.
Chung Pun Cheng became head chef with the Good Earth Group when he was 20. At that time, he was lacking confidence and experienced lots of pressure as he was very young and many subordinates were older than him. He tried his best to learn and work much harder in order not to disappoint his boss who had given him such a good opportunity. In 2005 Ben was promoted to executive chef.
Chung Pun opened his first takeaway restaurant in 1987 and later sold it. In 1993 he opened another one. With over 20 years professional experience in the catering business in the UK, he is now a Director of the Good Earth Group, a reputable Chinese restaurant group in London with high quality Chinese food and services.
Chung Pun has a loving family with 2 children. He is an expert in cooking and generously shares his expertise with other people. He conducts cooking lessons and intends to promote Chinese cuisine. He also actively participates in community work and helps charity organisations with cooking demonstrations.
