LOGO no background white textMing-Ai (London) Institute was awarded a grant by the Heritage Lottery Fund to conduct the British Chinese Workforce Heritage project in 2012, a groundbreaking three-year project looking at the history and contribution of the British Chinese workforce in London over the last 150 years.

The project has recorded and documented peoples’ experiences in a range of employment industries including seafaring, laundry, hairdressing, catering, military, community centres, health care, traditional Chinese medicine and newer professions through research and oral history interviews.

This project has provided internship schemes and 12 interns are trained.
